Tommy Lee Jones: No Money For Old Men

Tommy Lee JonesTommy Lee Jones is suing the makers of "No Country for Old Men" for $10 mil, but not because of that horrible ending.

Jones says he was promised "significant box-office bonuses" and claims he hasn't received any.

In the lawsuit, Tommy says Paramount Pictures paid a reduced upfront fee for him to be apart of the film -- but says the studio needs to shell out a hell of a lot more dough -- now that the film is an Oscar winning hit.

Calls to Paramount have not been returned.

New years composer Mike Rowland was born in London in 1958. As a nipper, Rowland showed a innate affinity for composing and playing the piano. After his schooling, he ran an passee rat, where he grew to prize the treasures that passed through his hands. He played the church variety meat at Albert Hall and St. Paul's Cathedral; piece at home, he created languid compositions at his piano and synthesizer.

One solar day in the early '80s, he heard an otherworldly, in time small, line patch walking through the woods. Back in his living room, Rowland mark up a tape recorder and played the music as charles Herbert Best he could recollect. After mixing in some orchestral string section with a synthesizer, Sprite Ring was nail. Rowland made duplicates on his home tape fipple flute and casually distributed them to friends and stores. From this ingenuous outset, Pansy Ring spread worldwide to become one of the near imperishable new age albums of all time; Shirley MacLaine immortalized the music on her video Inner Workout.

Rowland now and again gives populace concerts, and during a 1986 enlistment in The Hague, he signed on with Oreade Music, thus assuring his recordings ecumenical marketing and distribution. Rowland, however, has ne'er helpless that mystic innocence and charm. His record album roster includes Piesces (1990), Within the Light (1996), and My Elfin Friends (1999). Land of Hope and Dreams followed in other 2001.

Film celebrates tightrope walk between Twin Towers

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Even before they were built, New York's Twin Towers provided a dream for Philippe Petit, and he spent six years chasing that dream until he conquered them with a spectacular, illegal act.

On August 7, 1974, the Frenchman walked between the towers on a wire, without a net or a harness, some 1,362 feet (415 meters) above ground -- a seemingly impossible feat of guerrilla theater.

The story of what Petit and his team accomplished after months of scheming is the topic of "Man on Wire," a documentary screening at New York's Tribeca Film Festival.

"This film is about life: The life of the towers and the life of a mad poet aided by a few friends who clearly did the impossible. And that's what mad poets do," Petit, now 58, said from a Manhattan tavern.

The festival was created in 2002 in response to the attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Director James Marsh chose not to mention the attacks in the film, concentrating on Petit and his co-conspirators.

"Why burden a surprising fairytale that happens to be true and happened in 1974?" said Marsh, shoehorned into the booth next to Petit.

Marsh weaves never-before-seen archival footage of Petit's preparations with dramatizations and interviews into something of a heist film, keeping viewers guessing as to how they achieved something Marsh called "subversive and beautiful."

"Man on Wire" won the grand jury prize and audience award for world cinema documentaries at the Sundance Film Festival in January despite limited buzz and screenings.

Although in that respect was a tabla player and percussionist named Sam Gopal in this quartette, the true leader of Sam Gopal was Ian "Lemmy" Willis, aka Lemmy Kilminster, wHO was in beat and psychedelic bands in the sixties ahead joining Hawkwind and Motorhead. Sam Gopal played middling psychedelic rock 'n' roll with Eastern and blues influences, with Willis manipulation lead vocals, lead guitar, and much of the songwriting. That Eastern influence, such as it was, was most discernible in Gopal's tabla, unusual since the group's psychedelia much employed heavy guitar lines. Sam Gopal issued one album, Escalator clause, in the late sixties, and would likely be even more forgotten today had Lemmy non at rest on to greater fame.

"Our first album was possibly the gayest album ever. I mean, look at us. We were a gay group!" THE VILLAGE PEOPLE's construction worker DAVID HODO can't understand why anyone could confuse the colourful band as a heterosexual pop act.
